Dr. Susan Hunter hired as JSRCC Dean of School of Nursing and Allied Health

RICHMOND, Va. (January 8, 2010) J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College has hired Susan Hunter, Ph.D. as the Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health. Dr. Hunter will oversee the College’s programs that offer AAS or Certificate degrees in 11 different healthcare fields including registered nursing, dental assisting, respiratory therapy, and opticianry.

feature activist, author, MTV Personality Kevin Powell — RICHMOND, Va.
(January 7, 2010)

Kevin Powell, activist, award-winning author, and cast member of the inaugural season of MTV’s The Real World, will speak on the topic “Living in a Multicultural America” at JSRCC on February 4 at 7 p.m. in the Lipman Auditorium on the Parham Road Campus. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the JSRCC Multicultural Enrichment Council.

JSRCC to receive $400,600 grant from U.S. Department of Education; focus on reaching displaced workers through distance learning
RICHMOND, Va. (October 14, 2009)
 J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is one of two colleges selected in Virginia by the United States Department of Education’s Fund for Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) to receive a three-year grant totaling $400,602.

REYNOLDS AWARDED $720,000 DOE GRANT
Richmond, VA (August 5, 2009) J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College learned today that it has been awarded a $720,000 U.S. Department of Energy grant for the development of a new Advanced Electric Drive Vehicle Career Studies Certificate. The new program will focus on electric vehicles, plug in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles.

Sargeant Reynolds Community College Educational Foundation announces the appointment of Ranjit Sen of CXI, and Maureen Moslow- Benway, faculty member of Virginia Commonwealth University, to the Board of Directors as of July 1, 2009. Retiring directors are J. Vernon Glenn formerly with Reynolds Metals, Dennis W. Hedgepeth of Wachovia Wealth Management, Kenneth H. Jones of The Tax Complex, Margaret ‘Lyn’ McDermid of Dominion, and Mark A. Creery, Sr. of Data Directions.

The State Board for Community Colleges, in a unanimous vote, set the 2009‐ 2010 in‐state tuition and mandatory fee rate at $92.70 per credit hour. RICHMOND, Va. (May 21, 2009) – As a result of the $6.55 per credit hour increase, a full‐time, in‐state student, taking a total of 30 credit hours, will payan additional $196.50 for the academic year.
